Podiatric Laser Treatments in New Jersey

What is laser therapy treatment?

Laser therapy, which stands for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation, is a treatment method that typically utilizes heat energy delivered via a laser to help treat a variety of medical conditions, including those affecting the feet. Laser therapy is noninvasive, has minimal side effects, and allows your doctor to achieve greater precision when targeting specific areas requiring treatment. At Northeastern Foot & Ankle, we utilize some of the latest advancements in laser therapy, Erchonia Lunula Laser(R) and K-Laser(R), to aid in the treatment and pain management of fungal nails and other podiatric conditions when conservative treatment is ineffective.

Why is laser therapy treatment used?

Conditions affecting the foot can cause pain, discomfort, and other bothersome symptoms that interfere with your daily routines and activities. Along with this, standard treatment for certain foot-related conditions may not always be effective or may lead to unwanted side effects. When current treatment is ineffective, laser therapy can be used as an alternative treatment option for pain management and treatment of certain podiatric conditions, including:

What does laser therapy treatment involve?

Depending on your podiatric needs, laser therapy treatment may vary. At Northeastern Foot & Ankle, to treat fungal nails and help provide pain relief from certain podiatric conditions, we utilize the following laser technologies:

  • Lunula Laser LogoErchonia Lunula Laser for fungal nails — this procedure involves your feet being comfortably placed in a device that emits low-level laser light. Once your feet are resting comfortably in the device, the laser will work to target and destroy the fungal infection. Unlike traditional lasers, Lunula laser is non-thermal, meaning it does not emit heat. Because of this, Lunula therapy is pain-free, requires no anesthesia, and doesn’t emit harmful vapors or smoke. If you have tried various medications for fungal nails and are not seeing lasting results, Lunula therapy may help you achieve clear nail growth within six months. One treatment session usually takes less than 15 minutes, however, the effectiveness of Lunula therapy, along with its success rate, may vary from patient to patient. For some patients, results may be seen after one session. For others, additional sessions may be recommended.
  • K Laser LogoK-Laser therapy for pain management — this procedure involves your doctor gently pressing a handheld smart laser device against the skin of affected areas of pain. This device utilizes a high power laser to penetrate damaged tissues — helping to alleviate pain, encourage the healing process, and potentially help you get back to your normal daily routines with little to no pain. For patients who are experiencing chronic pain and are finding little to no pain relief in their current treatment plan, K-laser therapy may be recommended as a treatment alternative.

What are the benefits of laser therapy treatment?

If you are suffering from foot-related pain or are suffering from other food-related symptoms that will not go away after treatment, laser therapy can be used as a treatment alternative that offers various benefits, including:

  • Pain relief
  • Quick procedure time
  • No downtime
  • Painless
  • Minimal side effects
